Unfortunately, no you can’t. You have to go through a gatehouse to enter the road to the Mohonk resort and must have a reservation or Day Pass to gain entry.

The Mohonk Mountain House boasts 85 miles of trails that wind through the scenic Hudson Valley. These trails range in difficulty from beginner to advanced, offering options for everyone.

Take a challenging hike over boulders and cliffs or just relax and stroll along the carriage roads​​.

If you just want to see spectacular views and check out the outside of Mohonk Mountain House, the Day Pass is your best option, granting you access to the all the hiking trails on the resort grounds.

Pro Tip: You’ll have access to 85 miles of trails. My two favorites were Sky Top Tower Trail and Eagle Cliff. Both have a bit of incline, but aren’t real strenuous.

Dining Day Pass

If you want to grab a bite to eat during the day, a Dining Day Pass at Mohonk would be your best bet. The main dining room has beautiful views of the Catskill Mountains and the meals are made from locally-sourced foods.

When you’re done hiking or eating, you can sit on the Sunset Porch and watch the sun go down behind the mountains.

With the Dining Day Pass, you have access to all the hiking trails on the resort ground, as well as access to the interior of the resort building.

Better yet, there is a parking area right by the hotel entrance. You can choose lunch or dinner service while you’re making your reservation. (Lunch is a buffet and dinner is a 3-course meal from a menu).

You also have access to the resort gardens, greenhouse and Carriage Lounge (Offers options for additional food and drinks service you can pay for).

With a dining pass, you can also attend the traditional Tea and Cookie hour inside the Mohonk Mountain House.

You do not have access to extra activities like boat rentals, golf or swimming, but in my opinion, it is still worth the price.

The dining experience at Mohonk Mountain House is truly exceptional, with the chef using locally sourced ingredients from the Hudson Valley.

Reservations are required for the dining room.

Spa And Sports Passes

Depending on your tastes, the spa and sport day passes at Mohonk Mountain House may be a good deal for you.

The spa prices are in line with similar services in the region, and give you access to the trails and the interior of Mohonk, as well as any entertainment that begins at 9 p.m.

Booking any spa treatment at Mohonk gets you access to the spa, which includes the eucalyptus infused steam room, dry sauna, relaxation veranda and outdoor mineral pool.

You also get use of the trails and house (including Tea and Cookie hour).

Pro Tip: The lowest cost item I saw on the spa list was a 60 minute pedicure for $90 (a manicure might be a little less). Totally worth it when you add in everything else that is available to you.

You can also add on dining or other activities for an additional fee.

Similarly, the Mohonk Mountain House Day Pass for sports like golf and tennis are available and provide access to the grounds.
